Framing Specifications & Technical Details

This new home construction in Hollister required advanced framing techniques to meet California's stringent seismic and energy codes. As a premier general contractor Hollister, we utilized engineered lumber throughout the structure, including LVL headers for all openings over 4 feet and I-joists for the floor system to minimize settling and ensure long-term structural integrity.

The 2,400 square foot two-story home features 2x6 exterior wall framing on 16-inch centers with advanced framing techniques that reduce thermal bridging and improve energy efficiency. We installed Simpson Strong-Tie connectors throughout, including HTT hurricane ties rated for 250 mph winds and holdown anchors at shear wall locations. The foundation connection utilized 1/2-inch anchor bolts spaced according to San Benito County specifications.

Roof framing included engineered trusses spanning up to 28 feet, manufactured to withstand 150 mph wind loads and 40 psf snow load per California building codes. The hip roof design required complex valley framing and structural ridge beams. We coordinated crane placement for truss setting, working within Hollister's residential neighborhood constraints and utility clearances.

The project timeline spanned 6 weeks from foundation to dried-in stage, including coordination with San Benito County building inspections. Our experienced framing crew understands the local soil conditions and seismic requirements specific to the Hollister area. Quality construction Hollister homeowners can depend on starts with proper framing - the foundation of every successful build in the South Bay region.
